To begin the process of filling and bleeding the cooling system, we will be using an air lift or vacuum filler. This device consists of a cone with a gauge that is placed inside the coolant reservoir. One end of the hose is connected to the gallon of coolant, while the other end is connected to the head of the vacuum filler. The valve is then opened, and coolant is immediately sucked into the cooling system.

Keep a close eye on the coolant level in the jug, ensuring it doesn’t reach the bottom of the jug and start sucking in air. Once the coolant level is near the bottom, shut off the valve and refill the jug with water. It is recommended to use water instead of expensive coolant initially, especially if there is a drop in pressure. Pressure test the system using water to locate any potential leaks and make the necessary repairs. Once the system is free of leaks, it can be filled correctly with the recommended coolant.

Before removing the hose from the jug, it is important to close the valve to maintain the vacuum in the system. After refilling the jug with water, open the valve again to chase the coolant with plain water. As the pressure decreases rapidly, it indicates that the system is almost full. Have extra water on hand in case more is needed to achieve the desired levels. Although it may affect the coolant mixture, it is important to ensure the system is filled adequately.
